Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions PA nurses, CNAs, and healthcare facility leaders ask us most often. Still curious? Call 484-509-4920 — real people answer.
What kinds of healthcare facilities does ProStat staff in Pennsylvania?
ProStat staffs skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), sub-acute rehab units, personal care homes, assisted living communities, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), memory care units, behavioral health programs, intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) providers, hospice agencies, and home health agencies across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. We do not currently staff hospital or emergency department settings, though we’d consider expanding our service into hospital and ED settings for the right facility partnership — reach out and let’s talk.
What roles does ProStat place?
We place registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), certified nursing assistants (CNAs), and personal care aides (PCAs). We support per diem, contract, and travel assignments under one roof — so a nurse can switch between modes without changing employers.
How quickly does ProStat pay?
Weekly direct deposit. Pay is processed every Friday. Our nurses and CNAs do not wait two or three weeks for their first check.
What Pennsylvania cities does ProStat serve?
ProStat operates across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania. We have dedicated service areas in Lancaster, Harrisburg, Lebanon, Reading, York, and Allentown, plus the surrounding communities in Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, York, and Lehigh counties. If you are outside these areas, we may still be able to help — call us at 484-509-4920.
Do I need to be a new graduate, or do you only work with experienced nurses?
Both. We work with new graduates building their first clinical experience, mid-career nurses looking for schedule flexibility, and seasoned clinicians who want variety. Our recruiters help match you with settings that fit your experience level.
What credentialing do I need for PA per diem nursing work?
You will need an active PA license appropriate to your role (RN, LPN, or CNA registry listing), current BLS, a recent physical and TB clearance, up-to-date immunizations (MMR, varicella, hepatitis B, influenza), Pennsylvania background and child abuse clearances, FBI clearance, and a drug screen. Some specialty settings (behavioral health, IDD) add additional requirements. Our team walks you through every step.
What is per diem nursing?
Per diem means you work individual shifts rather than a fixed weekly schedule. You are employed by a staffing agency (ProStat) and we match you to open shifts at one or more facilities. You choose which shifts to pick up, with no commitment to a set number of hours per week.
How is per diem different from a local contract or travel assignment?
Per diem is shift-by-shift with no minimum hours. A local contract commits you to a set number of hours per week at one facility for a defined period (typically 4-13 weeks). Travel is a 13-week assignment outside your local area, usually with a housing stipend. ProStat offers all three under one employer.
Does ProStat have a mobile app?
Yes. The ProStat app lets nurses browse and request open shifts, self-schedule, clock in and out, track credentials, and see pay information. Facilities get a dedicated portal plus free scheduling software for their internal staff. It is available on iOS and Android.
Will I have a real recruiter or just an app?
Every nurse and every facility has a named recruiter at ProStat. The app handles routine scheduling and clock-in/out; the recruiter handles everything else — new opportunities, schedule questions, problem resolution, career conversations. We do not replace human relationships with chatbots.
How does ProStat help PA skilled nursing facilities?
We provide per diem coverage for predictable weekend and overnight needs, contract staffing for FMLA and maternity leave, census flex coverage, hard-to-fill specialty backfill (MDS coordinators, RN supervisors), and new-program ramp-up support. Most of our SNF clients use us as planned capacity, not emergency rescue.
Does ProStat staff behavioral health programs?
Yes. We place LPNs and RNs in inpatient psychiatric units, residential treatment programs, substance use treatment facilities, geriatric behavioral programs, and crisis stabilization units. We pre-screen for behavioral health experience — we do not treat behavioral health as a setting where any LPN will do.
Does ProStat staff IDD providers?
Yes. We place LPNs and RNs with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) providers operating community homes, day programs, and ICF/IID facilities. IDD nursing is one of the most under-served parts of the Pennsylvania staffing market, and we have a dedicated focus here.
Does ProStat support MSP or VMS arrangements?
Yes. We partner with managed service programs (MSP) and vendor management systems (VMS) used by multi-site PA operators. For single-site facilities, a direct ProStat relationship is usually the better fit; for multi-site operators with high agency utilization, MSP/VMS can centralize sourcing and standardize bill rates.
How is ProStat different from national staffing agencies?
We are a Pennsylvania-based agency. Our recruiters live here. We know which facilities have steady weekend gaps, which units fit new graduates, and which commutes work. National agencies bench-source from across the country. For PA-specific needs, local depth wins.
How do I get started with ProStat?
If you are a nurse, CNA, or PCA: apply online or call us at 484-509-4920. A recruiter will follow up within a business day to discuss your experience, preferences, and goals. If you are a facility: request staffing help through our website or call us — we will set up a brief call to understand your needs.
Does ProStat provide travel nursing assignments outside Pennsylvania?
Most of our travel volume is within Pennsylvania and bordering states. We focus where we have the deepest market knowledge. If you want a national travel program, we will be honest about whether we are the right fit.
Are there referral bonuses?
Yes. If you refer another nurse, CNA, or PCA who joins ProStat and works qualifying hours, you earn a referral bonus. Ask your recruiter for current details — programs vary based on role and market.
